What an adventure having a baby has turned out to be for me! Lachlan is my first child, and, for someone who loves paper as much as I do, I knew I wanted to create a thoughtfully designed birth announcement to welcome him into the world and to share with our closest family and friends. As we were staring out the window of our hospital room taking in the gorgeous views of Lake Michigan, we knew the name “Lachlan” just made sense. It means “from the land of lakes.” After having spent so much time out west, we were struggling to find our place back here in Chicago, so really taking the time to explore the beauty of the area was important to us. We spent the better part of the last few months of my pregnancy walking along the lakefront and the better part of Lachy’s first year strolling and running along the lakefront. We’ve made this new place home, and Lachy will forever be tied to this beautiful lakefront city.
This birth announcement incorporated a whimsical wave design (later utilized in Lachy’s younger brother’s birth announcement as well - spoiler alert LOL), a map of the great lakes on the inner envelope sleeve, two matte-finish mounted photos of our precious new family, my favorite blue hues, and a quote from Rumi that is near and dear to my heart. The luxurious double-thick cotton paper enhances the feel of the letterpress and foil stamping adding to the tactile sensations one feels when opening up this beautiful package.
